Cozy Multi-Floor Dessert Cafe Near Gangnam Station

Gangnam Cheesecake Cafe lovers will enjoy Upper and Under, a cozy dessert café located near Gangnam Station with floors ranging from the basement level to the second floor. While the café is not overly large, each floor is thoughtfully arranged, making it a comfortable place to enjoy cheesecake and coffee without feeling crowded.
The simple exterior with the glowing “Upper and Under” sign creates a calm first impression. Once inside, the warm atmosphere makes it an easy spot to slow down and focus on desserts, whether you’re visiting after dinner or stopping by specifically for cheesecake.
More Than Just Cheesecake Desserts

Upper and Under offers more than just cheesecake. The dessert counter is filled with a wide variety of baked goods, including financiers, madeleines, and canelés. Each item is neatly displayed, making it tempting to try more than one dessert during a visit.
The smaller pastries are perfect if you want something light to go with coffee, or if you’re visiting after already having cheesecake. This variety is one of the reasons the café feels worth revisiting, as there’s always something new to try alongside their signature cheesecakes.
Big and Generous Cheesecake Slices at a Gangnam Cheesecake Cafe

One thing that stands out at this Gangnam Cheesecake Cafe is the generous size of each cheesecake slice. Each piece is priced at 9,000–9,500 KRW (about $6.70–$7.10 USD), which may feel a bit expensive at first. However, the portion size is noticeably large, making it more filling than expected.
Both classic and matcha basque cheesecakes come with thick layers and a rich, creamy texture. Considering the size and quality, one slice feels satisfying enough to share or enjoy slowly with coffee. The combination of bold flavor, soft texture, and generous portions is a big reason why this café is worth revisiting despite the higher price point.
What We Ordered and What Stood Out the Most

We ordered a crème brûlée flan, canelé, and cheesecake, and honestly, everything was good.
The flan had a smooth custard texture with a nicely caramelized top, and the canelé was rich with a deep flavor that paired well with coffee.
That said, the cheesecake was the real highlight. It was incredibly soft and creamy—not firm or dense—and had a texture closer to whipped cream than a typical cake. Among all the cheesecakes I’ve had recently, this one easily stood out as the best. The balance of richness and smoothness made it memorable enough to be the main reason for coming back again.
