Hannam-dong Hanbang Whole Chicken Exterior

The exterior of Hannam-dong Hanbang Whole Chicken has a very local and old-school vibe that instantly tells you this place has history.
The bold Korean signboard stands out on the street, and even before stepping inside, it feels like a spot that locals truly trust.
Many locals consider Hannam-dong Hanbang Whole Chicken one of the best places for Korean herbal whole chicken in Seoul.
The restaurant has two floors, so dining in is possible, but during my visit in the summer, the staff working outside looked exhausted from the heat.
Because of that, I decided to take the chicken to go and enjoy it comfortably at home instead.
Hanbang Whole Chicken Takeout Experience

I ordered the hanbang whole chicken for takeout, and it came wrapped neatly in foil to keep the heat and moisture locked in.
The chicken was incredibly tender with crispy skin on the outside and juicy meat inside, without any greasy aftertaste.
What really stood out was how clean and comforting the flavor was.
The herbal aroma was subtle, not overpowering, and the chicken felt light yet satisfying.
It was easy to understand why this place is loved by both locals and Korean celebrities.
Sauces, Kimchi, and Sticky Rice Inside

The takeout came with mustard sauce, a sweet-spicy dipping sauce, pickled radish wraps (ssam-mu), and kimchiβand the kimchi was surprisingly good.
It was fresh, well-fermented, and paired perfectly with the chicken, adding a refreshing bite between each piece.
The chicken itself was light and clean-tasting, with no greasy heaviness at all.
The skin stayed crispy, while the meat inside was soft and juicy.
Inside the chicken, there was chewy sticky rice that had absorbed the herbal flavors, making every bite comforting and satisfying from start to finish.
